Adams 09-03-2012 Surviving as a company, no matter being small, middle-sized or large, in today’s unstable economy beset by a severe recession, instability and uncertainty resembles fighting for your life in a battle field. Only those who are more prepared, move faster and more efficient and have strategic advantage over their enemies are the ones who get to keep their lives. Enterprise 2. is what is needed for companies to gain and master those skills. It helps them structure and preserve corporate knowledge, cut costs, increase efficiency, enlarge employees and customers’ satisfaction and tap into new sources of innovation and expertise. Combined together, therefore the benefits of using Enterprise 2. 0 are exactly what companies need not only to survive, but also to have a lasting advantage over thei r competitors. Enterprise 2. 0 is a term that was first defined by Andrew McAfee 1 in 2006 as a description of how companies use the existing Web 2. technologies within their internal and external set of techniques to conduct their business. In other words, it is a combination between the integration of Web 2. 0 tools and architecture within enterprises’ structures and processes with a careful consideration of the human element – the culture. Examples for such tools are Blogs, Wikis, Intranet, Discussion Boards, Social Media Platforms, RSS feeds and many more which main goal is to provide users with open space for communication, collaboration, asset sharing, personalization and aggregation. One of the main advantages that Enterprise 2. gives to companies is in relation to Knowledge Management. In 1991 Ikujiro Nonaka 2 said: â€Å"In an economy where the only certainty is uncertainty, the only sure source of lasting competitive advantage is knowledge. †Companies acknowledge that statement today better than they have ever done before. Unfortunately in a lot of cases efforts, money and resources are wasted in the wrong direction when enterprises try to find the right way to capture, leverage and store collective knowledge. One of the reasons for that is that they don’t use the proper tools to achieve that goal.Enterprise 2. 0 however proposes the solution. For example, by simply incorporating Wikis into the company’s daily workflow, all of a sudden employees will have the chance to take part in building a collective memory by expressing and contributing with their tacit knowledge. The difference compared to the â€Å"old-school† Knowledge Management techniques is that by using the new Enterprise 2. 0’s way knowledge can be stored, edited and corrected but it can’t be lost because it has already been made explicit by sharing on the Wiki.So, even if an employee retires or decides to quit the company, informati on doesn’t go with him by having existed only in his head. Another benefit of using Enterprise 2. 0 is that it cuts costs drastically. Whereas In the era of Web 1. 0 Marketing efforts required an enormous amount of money, today most of the Web 2. 0 applications are free and reside in the cloud. Consequently, all the resources should be spent in time and effort to invent the right strategy, rather than to negotiate prices with traditional media representatives.What is more, the emerge of Social Media and platforms like Get Satisfaction3 gives a totally new perspective on the Customer Service practices within companies and the included expenses. Due to Enterprise 2. 0 employees can now have a live chat with customers rather than using the â€Å"old† methods like traditional telephone or e-mail. Bringing faster solution and demonstrating personal attitude and attention is therefore increasing consumer satisfaction and this way contributing to the company’s positive image. Enterprise 2. also helps companies work more efficient. If for example, employees are enabled to use the RSS feeds feature they need to spend only 10 minutes per day for staying up-to-date with all the new and relative topics, instead of receiving 100 distracting emails or having to browse randomly through the intranet â€Å"News† section which demands way too much time. The RSS feeds also enable structured and relevant information which can be customized and corrected on a daily basis. W orking more efficiently makes people feel that they are contributing to the company in a positive way.Taking part in a platform where employees can add, edit and discuss content will make them feel significant and belonging to a community that shares a common goal. A virtual reality where it doesn’t matter what position within the company the user possesses in order to express an opinion or share an idea, can lead to lower Power Distance Authority4. Small steps incorporated via Enterprise 2. 0 strategy can lead to great transformations in employees’ attitude towards their employers.And a company with a high dissatisfaction level of its staff can never survive in the course of time. Last but not least Enterprise 2. 0 is the best solution for discovering and implementing new ways of innovation and expertise. â€Å"A difficult economic environment argues for the need to innovate more, not to pull back. † – says Ken Chenault, CEO of American Express. Having c arefully chosen combination of all the right Web 2. 0 tools to suit the company’s needs is however an innovation itself. Enterprise 2. is a way to transform closed, authority driven working atmospheres into a collaborative environment driven by employees’ intrinsic motivation, needs for belonging and self-actualization. A company that can be characterized by those terms therefore has already established the basic platform for open innovation. For example, a simple, random and not so clear idea shared by an employee on the Internal Social Media platform, can very quickly, easily and naturally transform into a feasible and actually very smart and realistic one.This idea though wouldn’t have come to live if the person didn’t have the motivation or the possibility to share it. That is why companies need to consider Enterprise 2. 0 in their workflows – enabling space for new topics, discussion and collaboration to emerge. Without innovating both interna lly and externally and upgrading expertise in such a transitional and constantly developing environment, businesses are just doomed to go down. In conclusion, Enterprise 2. 0 is no longer just an advantage for companies who implement it into their activities, on the contrary – it’s a necessity for survival.Only the businesses who know how to correctly manage their collective knowledge and preserve it, conduct their processes with greatest efficiency and lowest cost possible, keep their employees satisfied and spend their resources for constant development in their daily workflow as well as products will keep on existing. Project Report on “Malnutrition” Essay

For its sustenance on the earth, every living organism requires food, which is quite essential for carrying out its physical and mental activities, growth and development. For normal growth and development, man requires some specific nutrients like carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, roughage and water in right proportion and sufficient quantity, which he gets through the food he eats. The food, which provides all these essential nutrients in proper amounts, is called balanced diet. The deficiency or even excess of any of these in a person’s diet results into disorders regarding nutrition, which may be collectively, called malnutritional disorders. The condition in which the people become weak and sick because of insufficient and unbalanced food is called malnutrition. A large no of people in our country and other developing countries suffer from malnutrition because of poverty, lack of education, wrong notions and frequent pregnancies. The main cause of malnutrition is poverty. The deficiency diseases are of three types: 1. Protein energy malnutrition (PEM)-the condition of being nourished on low protein and low energy diet is called Protein Energy Malnutrition or PEM.So, deficiency of carbohydrates, fats and proteins in PEM. It is the most important nutritional disorder affecting Indian children, in the age of period 1-3 years. The symptoms of PEM are: (A) Loss in weight and height (B) Poor muscular development (C) Susceptible to many diseases of respiratory and gastro intestinal systems. 2. Mineral deficiency disease (Anemia, Goiter and Rickets): these are caused due to the deficiency of either iron or iodine. The symptoms are: either he will feel tiredness easily or there will be swelling in his throat region of neck. Goiter is an endemic disease (the diseases, restricted to a given reason and arising from its specific environmental condition are called endemic diseases) which is more common in hilly areas because soil of hilly areas is poor in iodine. Due to this the drinking water as well as food grown in this area is deficient in iodine. So, it leads goiter among them. 3. Vitamin deficiency disease: the diseases which are caused due to the deficiency of Vitamins in diet are called Vitamin Deficiency diseases. Some of the diseases that are caused due to the deficiency of Vitamins are Night blindness, Exophthalmia, Beri-Beri. (A) Night Blindness and Xerophthalmia: these are caused due to the deficiency of Vitamin A (retinol). (B) Beri-Beri: the deficiency of vitamin B1 causes beri-beri. Vitamin B1 is also called anti beri-beri or antineuretic factor Types of Malnutrition In human beings, these disorders may be classified into three categories-UNDER NUTRITION, which means the malnutrition, caused due to the availability of less food for a long period. For example slow starvation, which is found most in extremely poor or low income group people. Excessive nutrition that means disorders developed due to overfeeding or over-eating for a long time. For example obesity (or motapa). Such disorders are more evident in the families belonging to the middle class families or rich category. Deficiency disease which are caused due to the lack of a specific nutrient in our diet. For example protein energy malnutrition, mineral deficiency diseases like anemia etc. such diseases may be found in nearly every family-rich, middle class or poor. It is thus evident that the problem of malnutrition is not confined to poor families alone but is spreading fast even in the middle and rich class families. If the increasing level of diseases in children due to the malnutrition is not taken care off than this may result into excessive weakness or obesity after a few years. We must not forget that malnutrition affects the immune system of a child which may cause frequent sickness, increase the possibility of infections from communicable diseases like cold and cough etc. So, malnutrition must be checked in the childhood itself. Importance of studying malnutrition Today we are living in computer age. The work that required a long time to be completed can now be done with in a few seconds. In other words man is progressing in his mental abilities, but if we measure the physical standards, we will find he is becoming physically weak and now he is not so able as he used to be. Now, the question arises what is the cause behind this physical disability, that even after attaining complete independence in the field of agriculture, children of our country are suffering from malnutrition. Malnutrition in children can prove as an obstruction in the progress of any country because today’s children are tomorrow’s future. Therefore for the progress of a country it is necessary that its children are healthy. Malnutrition is found in rich and middle class families also. Although, the type and level is different from the one found in poor families still it is a serious problem. Causes and solutions There are two reasons for Malnutrition in middle and high class families – 1.Inbalanced diet 2.Ignorance of wrong food habits in children by parents. It is also found that some parents are totally unaware of what a balanced diet should consist of. They don’t know the importance of balanced diet. They only care that their children eat adequate diet. If child wants to eat chips,samosas,maggi,chowmin,pastries, their parents do not resist. parents themselves also eat junk food and allow their children also. Children don’t want to eat green vegetables. They only prefer food items made of potatoes which increases their weight. Cold drinks, chocolates, coffee etc. that give sufficient calories but don’t give nutrition. Therefore, parents need to improve food habits of their children. They should take balanced diet. Earlier boys and girls were treated differently. So, girls were found to suffer from malnutrition. But, today that is not the case. Suggestions for preventions Malnutrition in children is a major obstruction in progress of a nation. In our country about 60% children are suffering from malnutrition. Therefore, it is very important to eradicate this problem completely. After working on this project we suggest the following ways to prevent malnutrition: 1.Guardians, themselves must change their food style, as children learn their food habits from their home. 2.Mothers should breast feed their children for adequate period. 3.Children should be provided medical check up from time to time. 4.Teachers must give information to students on how to prevent disease from malnutrition. 5. All the people should eat the food which is sufficiently boiled. What we came to know after preparing this project All the data collected for the project revealed that most of the children suffer from malnutrition due to their wrong food habits and eating imbalanced diet. If the parents show a little concern towards their children, this problem can also be eradicated. Meetings between parents, teachers and child specialist doctors would be of much help in solving this problem. All these steps should be taken in a hurry because today’s children are tomorrow’s future. Collected data In a survey which was held in our own school last year, it came to light that : 1.only 5% students in the age group of 3-7 years like green vegetables. 2. 3% students like pulses. 3. only 2% students like milk. 4. 5% students like fruits. 5. 40% students like maggi /chowmin. 6. 40%students like cold drink. 7. 5% students like juice. In this survey study of malnutrition in students was done according to the weight of the children. It was found that 15% children are weighing above the normal weight, 70% children are weighing below the normal weight and only 15% children are found with the normal weight. Also in this survey it was found that 20% students have low frequency of infection while 80% students have high frequency of infection. Also the activities of the children were examined and were observed which revealed that 35%children were lazy while 65% were found active.

Business Law for contract Between Bob and Mollie †Free Samples

Whether a contract was formed between Bob and Mollie A contract is defined as a statutory agreement between two or more persons that is enforceable in the court of law . The significance of contract lies in the fact that it prises exchange of promises, which have legal enforceability (McKendrick 2014). In order to render a contract as valid, a contract must include its essential elements. In contract law , an offer is said to e terminated in the following number of ways: An offer is said to be open, if the offer does not stipulate any particular time within which the offer should be accepted, the offer should lapse after a reasonable time ((Stone and Devenney 2017). The reasonable time depends on the subject of the potential contract and is often subjected to the discretion of the judge as was held in Carr v JA Berriman [1953] HCA 31 [1953] 89 CLR 327. However, as per a general rule of the contract, even if the offeror states that the offer shall remain open for a stipulated time, the law does not bar the offeror from revoking such offer prior to its acceptance. On the facts here, Bob accepted the offer that was advertised regarding purchase of Sony Bravia OLED Televisions and gave his card to the sales manager, Mollie, of the Toshiba showroom as an acceptance to the offer. However, Mollie did not accept the card stating they were sold out. Mollie offered Bob to purchase the demonstration model TV, which would cost $2000 instead of the real offer $3500. As was observed in Smith v Hughes case, an offer was made by Mollie to Bob regarding the purchase of the TV, which was the demonstration model for the price of $2000. This further signifies that the offer was made along with a consideration, which was to be made by Bob. However, in order to render a contract as a valid contract and to be enforceable, it is essential that an offer should be made followed by a valid acceptance of such offer as was held in Crown v Clarke case. In the given scenario, a valid offer was made by Mollie to Bob but Bob was confused and required time to think about the offer. Mollie promised that she would keep the offer open until Friday provided Bob is ready to make a payment of $10 as the booking money. However, Bob refused this arrangement and stated that he would inform within Friday afternoon, which was next day. Here, it can be stated that though Bob did not accept the offer made by Mollies immediately but Mollie stipulated in her offer an essential condition that she will only keep the offer open if Bob provides as booking money of $10, which would be adjusted while the original transaction is made. The offer also included the stipulated tome within which the acceptance must be municated to her. Nevertheless, Bob refused to fulfill the condition set out in the offer, which required him to pay a booking amount for the television. This amounts to a non-fulfillment of an essential condition of the offer made by Mollie. Further, Mollie sold the TV to Mark on Friday when he offered $2500 for the demonstration model TV at the store. Generally, the offeror may revoke the offer any time before its acceptance even if the offeror has promised to keep the offer open for any particular time. However, this does not amount to a breach of a contract on the following grounds. Firstly, Mollie offered $2000 to Bob for selling the demonstration TV model, which Bob did not accept. Secondly, Mollie stated that her offer to sell the TV at the offered price of $2000 shall remain open until next day (Friday) only provided Bob pays $10 as booking money immediately which shall be adjusted while he purchases the television on Friday. Now, as was held in Crown v Clarke, a valid acceptance must be made to a valid offer to form a contract. However, Bob did not make any acceptance while the offer of purchasing the demonstration TV for $2000 was made to him by Mollie.   Further, Bob also refused to fulfill the condition that Mollie mentioned in her offer regarding the payment of the booking amount. As a rule, an offer can be terminated on the ground of failure of condition of the offer (Stone and Devenney 2017). The condition of an offer is considered as essential provided breach of such condition shall necessarily result in termination of the contract as was held in Tramways Advertising v Luna Park case. In the given scenario, Bob did not pay the booking amount, which formed an essential condition as Mollie stated only if the booking amount is paid, she would hold the offer for till Friday. Therefore, the failure to satisfy the essential condition of the offer, which was so important that it would have determined the legal intention of both the parties to form the contract, resulted in termination of the offer that Mollie made to Bob. Death happened due to sizable number of natural as well as man-made causes. â€Å"The topic of "man summoned by death" was commonplace during the fifteenth century. Frequent warfare, bubonic and pneumonic plague, starvation, and crime made death a frequent and often public experience.† (â€Å"Everyman (after 1485)†). In the play, it is implied that when death happens, the journey of human life does not ends, instead the good as well as the evil deeds committed by an individual during his/her lifetime will be tallied by the superior being after death in the form of a ledger book. Thus, in a way, the play tries to show the people that although every one irrespective of gender, age, status, etc, has to meet death; it is far more important how he/she should live their lives. Thus, the anonymous author perceives death in a different perspective and so this paper will discuss the author’s perception of death and the treatment of death in Everyman The play, Everyman starts off with a prologue, with a messenger asking the audience to make their presence felt in the action that is going to unfold. After this initiation, the God starts to speak lamenting that humans all over the world are not focusing on the key virtues of life, and instead have become too focused on accumulating the material wealth and just enjoy the spoils. As the humans’ concentration was mainly on material riches, the God feels that the humans have taken him for granted. He further strongly condemns that the humans are showing no appreciation for all the good things that he have been bestowing on them. â€Å"Of ghostly sight the people be so blind, Drowned in sin, they know me not for their God; In worldly riches is all their mind, They fear not my rightwiseness, the sharp rod...† (Anonymous 184). So, as a form of teaching the humans a lesson, the God orders his messenger, Death to approach Everyman and inform him about his death and summon him to heaven. Here Everyman represents all the humans or entire mankind. That is, author gave the character the name of Everyman to represent all the humans who have taken the negative path of material wealth.
